Purpose of Role:
• The role provides financial accounting to the UK Business Unit relevant to a portfolio of upstream E&P assets in the UKCS.
• Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, the role will assist in the preparation and delivery of various forms of reporting associated with the UK Business Unit's financial and non-financial performance. This will include financial accounting reporting associated with Clients Corporate LSE reporting requirements. Reporting will be delivered to both the UK Business Unit and the Group Head Office.
• The role will also assume other general accounting responsibilities as required, including assisting in liaising with external auditors.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence Level:
Preparation of Financial Statements for Group Consolidation
• Preparation of half year and year end group accounting packs to be submitted for consolidation to Client to meet corporate and London Stock Exchange requirements.
• Interface with Tax accountants to provide the relevant pre-tax reports required for tax computations.
• Perform financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting standards.
• Liaise with external auditors as appropriate
Preparation of UK Statutory Financial Statements for UKBU
• Preparation of UK statutory financial statements for the entities contained within the UK BU
• Interface with Tax accountants to provide the relevant pre-tax reports required for tax computations.
• Perform financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting standards.
• Liaise with external auditors as appropriate
Other Activities
• Preparation of monthly depreciation calculation and the associated variance analysis
• Preparation of IFRS16 Lease Accounting calculations
• Preparation of impairment testing calculations including sensitivities in accordance with the corporate timetable
• Responsible for the preparation of balance sheet reconciliation reporting for the UK Business
• Responsible for the completion of Government Questionnaires
• Any other reasonable duty as instructed by your Line Manager
Critical Skills, Qualifications Experience, etc.:
• Degree and qualified accountant of recognised body ACA or equivalent with appropriate industry experience Extensive technical accounting knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, SOAPs within upstream oil and gas accounting is essential
• Excellent financial accountant with proven track record
• Strong analytical skills
• Experience of Finance systems
• Strong MS Office skills Excellent interpersonal skills and adept at interacting with individuals at all levels in the organisation
• Focus on service delivery to business and functions
• Flexible and responsive to stakeholder requirements and changing environment
• Ability to deliver high quality work by deadlines and work effectively under time pressure
• Ability to work on own initiative, proactively drive change, take responsibility and manage tasks through to completion
• Open, honest and reliable
