Purpose of Role:
To work within the Corporate Controlling Finance and more widely Finance function in providing technical financial accounting and reporting services for the group ensuring fit for purpose reporting, enhancements and continued quality assurance programmes for all stakeholders
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence Level:
̢ۢ Provide accounting papers for Audit & Risk Committee and Board as required
̢ۢ Lead on Annual Report & Accounts reporting updates on new standards, regulatory or legal reporting requirements and ensure liaison with other functions such as Investor Relations, Legal and Sustainability teams
̢ۢ Liaise with external auditors to ensure integrity and alignment of application of technical guidance across the group, business units and functions
̢ۢ Support financial reporting requirements with regard to corporate activities such as acquisitions, bonds and other debt/equity capital raising
̢ۢ Assist with due diligence on potential acquisitions
̢ۢ Assist with cross functional initiatives such as legal / capital structure optimisation and dividend/reserves reviews
̢ۢ Lead on UK SOX developments and application to technical financial reporting and systems.
̢ۢ Assist in ensuring appropriate finance control environment as it relates to financial reporting and accounting systems, ensuring fit for purpose and scalable as appropriate
̢ۢ Lead technical accounting and reporting services for the group ensuring adherence to IFRS and UK GAAP, accounting policies, best practice and recommended industry accounting practice ensuring engagement and alignment with external auditors
̢ۢ Provide continual improvement and enhancement of the integrity of both group and statutory accounts ensuring alignment between them
̢ۢ Retain custody of the group manual of accounting and policies ensuring regularly updated
Continuing development:
̢ۢ Develop and implement standardised management reporting processes in accordance best practice
̢ۢ Identify operating model and process gaps and propose solutions
̢ۢ Undertake training of staff across the group where necessary
̢ۢ Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your manager
Critical Skills* Qualifications Experience, etc.:
̢ۢ Degree qualified and with recognised accounting qualification ACA or equivalent
̢ۢ Extensive technical accounting knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, SOAPs within upstream oil and gas accounting is essential
̢ۢ Excellent financial accountant with proven track record
̢ۢ Strong analytical skills
̢ۢ Experience of Finance systems
̢ۢ Strong MS Office skills
̢ۢ Excellent interpersonal skills and adept at interacting with individuals at all levels in the organisation
̢ۢ Focus on service delivery to business and functions
̢ۢ Flexible and responsive to stakeholder requirements and changing environment
̢ۢ Ability to deliver high quality work by deadlines and work effectively under time pressure
̢ۢ Ability to work on own initiative, proactively drive change, take responsibility and manage tasks through to completion
̢ۢ Open, honest and reliable
