Job Title: Offshore Cable Engineer (Design & Installation)
Type: Long-term contract

SUMMARY:

As a Cable Systems Engineer you will support an offshore Wind Energy project in the design and installation of high-voltage AC/DC underground and submarine cabling. You should have experience with voltage ranging from 35kV to 500 kV of XLPE, HPFF, and GIL cables. You should also have experience with different installation methods including direct buried, concrete duct bank, horizontal directional drilling, jack and bore, micro-tunneling, and subsea cable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and install onshore and offshore cabling systems
• Understanding of cable design and sizing such as ampacity, charging, reactive compensation, losses and EMF calculations, trenched and trenchless technologies, route development, constructability review, permitting and survey work
• Evaluate technology readiness, define owner requirements, constructability reviews, and technical specification development
• Electrical and civil design of high voltage AC and DC transmission lines onshore and offshore
• Support the tendering and execution of RFI and RFP processes
• Understand regulatory issues related to underground and submarine cables, including permitting, environmental, siting, etc.
• Provide technical engineering support throughout design and construction phases
• Participate in conferences discussing technical challenges related to cabling
• Travel between company sites and project offices
• Manage consultants and contractors to ensure successful and timely delivery

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree (Electrical Engineering preferred)
• 3+ years of experience working on large-scale energy construction projects
• Interdisciplinary experience across managing civil, near shore, electrical, geotechnical, geophysical, and trenchless design interfaces
• Project execution in the areas of onshore and offshore cable design and sizing
• Experience with utility-scale electrical systems such as substations, converter stations, reactive compensation technologies, and grid interconnection concepts
• Experience working with utilities, OEMs, and EPCs
• Ability to manage consultants
