Role Objectives:
To effectively lead and develop the shift production team to safely achieve defined quality standards, performance and output levels. To act as the Incident / Main Controller outside normal working hours in the event of an incident.
To ensure that the team meet all requirements under the Health and Safety Policy, Environmental Policy, COMAH Major Accident Prevention Policy (MAPP) and quality standards, including ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO18001 and cGMP, as well as the requirements of cross contamination
Key Accountabilities:
Ensure that all Environment, Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are met including (but not limited to) workplace organisation, work instructions/procedures, risk assessments and method statements, permit issuing and control, COSHH assessments and housekeeping standards.
Responsible for all out-of-hours Emergency Response
Plan all shift activities to safely achieve output in a timely manner, consistent with quality objectives, budgetary constraints and manufacturing/customer requirements. Liaise with Manufacturing Manager for out of hours priority clashes.
Maximise the utilisation of both equipment and people in Plant. Outside of normal working hours ensure that resource is assigned to meet overall site priorities.
Work with the Plant Manager to ensure conformance to the highest standards, through daily audits, ensuring operators attend all required training and reporting.
Lead team, ensuring all direct reports are set appropriate but challenging objectives and are given feedback on their performance. Effectively and consistently use the counselling and disciplinary procedures to support high performance standards.
Ensure that all operators are appropriately trained for any tasks they may be required to undertake and that this training is documented.
Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and quality deviations as necessary and make recommendations for action.
Ensure all permits are completed accurately and in a timely manner, monitor all permit activities and ensure the plant is always handed back in a safe state.
Identify and development high performers in line with site succession plan.
Undertake any other duties of which the responsibility, skill and experience required fall within a post holder's expected capability and commensurate with the post holder's position in the company.

Core Skills/Competencies
Proven managerial experience
Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity and inventory management
Computer literacy
Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
Education and/or qualifications
Essential: Min. 5 years working knowledge of a chemical processing plant
Desirable: Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering or Scientific discipline
