Our client, an Operating Company, is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support strategic Maintenance & Reliability planning for their overseas FPSO assets. The role is based in their Aberdeen office, with some flexibility on time working from home. Initial contract duration would be 12 months, but total expected duration is 18-24 months. PLEASE NOTE - The role is available on a PAYE basis only. Intent Medium to long range focus on reliability issues from a Rotating Equipment Engineering perspective for site operations related queries/activities/risks to deliver safe, reliable and compliant operations. Collaborates with Facility Support Squads and Site Engineer to identify longer term engineering solutions to reduce risk and grow production. Collaborates with Facility Support Teams and Site Engineer to identify longer term engineering solutions to reduce risk and grow IPC. Provision of deep Rotating Equipment Engineering (REE) expertise and judgment in service of the assets. Ensure pragmatic solutions are implemented for management of risk, production efficiency improvement, maintenance, defect elimination and engineering standardization in support of safe, reliable and compliant operations. Responsibilities Provides Rotating Equipment engineering expertise to the Reliability Team by performing and reviewing complex, or non-routine REE calculations and analyses. (Relevant teams include Projects & Mods, IM, Maintenance, Programme Execution.) Provides REE expertise to MoCs (Relevant support activities involve regulatory compliance, deviations from technical practice/specifications, design reviews, procurement support for complex packages, life cycle operability, Category Management and SQM activities.) Provides REE expertise in performing incident investigations (IRIS) and defect investigations (OPTIMA). Ensures that the inspection, testing, maintenance and condition monitoring tasks in CMMS and Operator Workbench are aligned with the technical intent of Equipment Strategies. Performs reliability analysis for rotating equipment using surveillance, maintenance and condition monitoring data, and trends performance metrics. Responsible for developing critical equipment repair procedures and sparing strategy for rotating equipment. Provides REE expertise to delivery of regional actions. Leads on resolution of complex, multi-discipline technical issues where the dominant component is rotating equipment. (Relevant sources of actions include HAZOP/LOPA, HVLs, Learning Alerts/Bulletins, Audit findings, IRIS/Traction, RAP, F4S, MoC, OPTIMA and engineering studies.) Experience and job requirements Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.Preferably experience with the reliability of of diesel engines, high speed gas turbines, pumps and compressors. Understanding of reliability principles and methodologies with demonstrable experience in reliability systems and diagnostics. Technical knowledge and experience in reliability, with a proven ability to demonstrate practical and applied knowledge of upstream and global operations and practices. Substantial experience and technical understanding of engineering, maintenance and operation of rotating equipment in oil & gas processing facilities.
