Blogger – Various Locations

Undercover Tourist is seeking contract bloggers based in Orlando, Southern California and Colorado.

We are looking for tips, reviews and advice geared toward vacationing families. Our ideal candidates have genuine interest in helping vacationers make the most of their time in the parks, have fun and save money too. Fun, accurate and conversational writing is a must!

Bonus points for knowledge about any of these additional topics:

• Visiting theme parks with disabilities
• Visiting theme parks with young children
• Skiing/snowboarding/doing summer mountain activities with kids
• Cruises

This is the perfect job for a planner — someone who wouldn’t dream of visiting a new theme park, city or ski destination without doing research!

Bloggers would be expected to provide original images to accompany posts, and would be in regular communication with the content team about assignments. Someone who knows his or her way around a DSLR or video camera, is familiar with AP style, and has a journalism or content marketing background would be a plus.

Hours per week will vary by location (roughly 5-15 hours per week), but there is flexibility and could be additional assignments.

Candidates will be required to take an editing test and pass with flying colors!

Job Responsibilities

• Suggest and write original posts geared toward vacationing families making trips to the theme parks and other tourist destinations.
• Shoot photos and video for the site and social media channels.
• Stay current on local theme park events and news.
• Research what we’ve written about, and look for new content opportunities, while linking to relevant posts.
• Apply SEO best practices to help content rank for long-term success.
• Sleuth out relevant topics and new content opportunities in collaboration with our in-house content team.
• Provide event content coverage, including photos and video for use on our site and social media channels.

Requirements

• Genuine enthusiasm for theme parks and family vacation travel.
• Exceptional organization for keeping track of projects.
• Top-notch attention to detail. Someone who values accuracy and getting things right!
• Solid writing and editing skills, with grasp of grammar, style and punctuation fundamentals.
• Knowledge of SEO and web publishing best practices.
• Eye for aesthetics and proficiency with or willingness to learn about principles of video/photography and equipment.
• Excellent communication.
• Self-motivated.
