Part-time Curriculum Writer for a Children’s Bible Club
Curriculum Writer (Bilingual English/Spanish)
Position Aims
- To assume primary responsibility for the development of a high-quality club curriculum that will help leaders deeply impact children with the gospel.
- To fully equip Spanish-speaking leaders with a Spanish-version of the curriculum and all related materials.
Core Functions and Responsibilities
Write 24–26 user-friendly lessons per year that are age appropriate and aligned with Crossroads’ philosophy of curriculum. (70%)
- Build a team of people who will provide input and ideas.
- Visit club meetings to evaluate the curriculum as it is being used.
- Write a series of club lessons each year that are connected by a theme, and include age-adapted versions for K-2, 3-5 and 6-8 along with activities and game ideas.
- Create monthly parent communication tools that align with the curriculum
(e.g. e-newsletters).
- Oversee the assembly and distribution of CKC Games Bags each year.
- Develop measures to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum resources, and strive to improve it on an ongoing basis.
Translate curriculum and related materials to Spanish. (20%)
- Translate all lessons to Spanish and proofread them carefully.
- Translate any curriculum-related materials, such as parent newsletters and Games Bags, and blog posts when applicable.
Present curriculum to club leaders at the annual conference. (10%)
- Prepare an engaging presentation of the curriculum theme and resources to share with leaders at the annual conference in August.
- Participate in the conference and intentionally develop relationships with leaders.
Time Investment
- Part-time (average of 7–8 hours per week).
- Hours are flexible and will vary by season.
- Required attendance at the annual conference in August, and at least one weekday afternoon should be regularly available to visit clubs occasionally.

- Reports to CEO

- Develops relationships with team leaders and club volunteers
- Builds and oversees a curriculum advisory team
Compensation
$30-$40 an hour, depending on background
Tools and Training Provided
- On-the job, personalized training
- Mileage reimbursement for transportation to off-site locations

The ability to come up with new, innovative ways to teach children and engage them in the lesson, and to create high-quality content that is engaging and fun.
Written Communication Skills (bilingual)
The ability to express ideas and give instructions clearly and consistently in writing in a way that is easily understood by a wide audience of volunteers (in both Spanish and English)
Oral Communication Skills (bilingual)
The ability to express oneself clearly in conversations and interactions with others, as well as give compelling presentations in front of an audience (in both Spanish and English.)

Experience and Skills Required
- *Deep love for Jesus and his Church along with a passion for Crossroads Kids
Club’s mission and agreement with Crossroads statement of faith and Christian lifestyle declarations
- Ability to think and operate in accordance with the organization’s core values.
- *A master’s degree in ministry, education, Bible, theology or a related field
- *2-3 years experience working with children, (experience in a Crossroads Kids Club preferred)
- Written and oral proficiency in Spanish and English
- Presentation skills: public speaking and small group meetings.
- Comfort and ability working with children
- Software/Technical Skills Required (training will be provided)
