Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Specialty Doctor Trauma and Orthopaedics based at Macclesfield District General Hospital in Orthopaedics, with specialist interest in hip and knee arthroplasty essential. This position offers a rewarding prospect of a challenging yet enjoyable career in Orthopaedics in a delightful part of the country.
This busy DGH covers a wide range of specialties with full diagnostic facilities with CT and MRI scanners. It is a modern, well-organised hospital providing extensive services to the local population with well-established links with other Trusts and Regional Centres.
The Orthopaedic Department provides an integrated Orthopaedic and Trauma service and has facilities which include: a 32 bed ward for in-patient and day cases, state-of-the-art twin operating theatres, designated CEPOD theatre and Occupational Therapy, Orthotics, x-ray and out-patient suite. Although fully self-contained with its own entrance, the Department enjoys all the benefits of being part of a modern District General Hospital.
The successful applicant will join an existing team of eight Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultants who provide a full range of Trauma and Orthopaedic procedures with areas of expertise in hip, knee, upper limb and foot and ankle surgery.
Macclesfield is a very pleasant Cheshire town located on the edge of the Peak District. It is within easy travelling distance of many major cities and is only two hours from London by train. Manchester International Airport is less than half an hour away by car. The town is within easy reach of the Peak National Park, offering opportunities for a wide variety of lifestyle and interests. The district is prosperous with an income above the national average with particularly good housing and schools.
