Lead Applications Engineer

Compensation: 58,000 Euros + 0.195% stock options


Location: This is a remote position however can also be based from our Madrid office.


All remote applicants must be based between the San Francisco and Moscow Timezones

At source{d} we are building the data platform that enables engineering leaders & teams to use source code as data for getting insights on their people, processes and technology—as well as feeding sophisticated Machine Learning on code algorithms which power the next generation of developer tooling, as assisted code review. We are an open-core company built around our Open Source projects. We have raised over eight million USD so far and as we develop our products and expand our business, we are currently looking to grow our team.


Our Applications Team


The Applications Team develops end-user applications on top of the source{d} stack. These applications go from CLI tools to GitHub bots or web applications.


The most active projects maintained by the Applications Team are:



  • Sourced-ce: A command line interface to deploy and manage source{d} Community Edition, written in Go and using Docker.

  • Sourced UI: A data visualization web application for the software development life-cycle. It is a fork of Apache Superset (Python, Flask, JavaScript, React) including bug fixes, new features and preset dashboards for source code analysis. The project includes contributions to upstream.

  • UAST Viewer: A frontend component to visualize Babelfish’ UAST. Written in JavaScript with React.


Other projects, with varying degrees of activity, are:



  • Gemini: Duplicate code detection across git repositories. Written in Scala and Python, based on Apache Spark.

  • Lookout: A platform for automated code review. Written in Go.


Role


This position is for a Lead Software Engineer in the Applications Team. The team currently consists of 4 members.


Responsibilities



  • Participate in the design and implementation of the team’s projects.

  • Provide technical leadership by steering technical decisions and mentoring team members.

  • Coordinate and plan the team’s workflow, setting standards and leading by example

  • Management of the team in terms of people issues, regular coaching and performance management to help them develop and progress, and acting as a hiring manager for new members of the team


Requirements



  • Strong software development skills, both front and back end, with a passion for different languages, as well as a desire to learn more.

  • Previous leadership experience directly managing a team, whether it be 2 or 20 people, and with the ability to plan on a project and people level.

  • Good communication skills. Acting as the main point of contact for the other members of the team, you will be working with many other stakeholders in the company to deliver projects, and with our remote culture, this is essential to the role.

  • Ability to work 100% in English with strong spoken and written ability.

  • You enjoy working in an international team and have no problem working autonomously or as a team player

  • Experience with Linux and Docker.

  • Experience with Python or Go.

  • Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.

  • Experience with React.

  • Experience working with fully remote teams
