IS CORRUPTION THE WAY FORWARD?
Corruption
has become a system of living where by the younger generation has not only
understood, but mastered the art and made it part and parcel of their day to
day living. Life has become that of those who can survive either doing
something to make other things go fast or by behaving so that things can work.
All of these
things have in a long run reversed values of life. What is considered morally
right is rather a vice in our present system. The impact of this reversal of
value is quite enormous and over bearing. So to speak, laxity, neglect, of
competence and abuse of function and responsibility have become the most
applauded of attitudes nowadays it is rarer to see a teacher who in spite of
all the odds in the profession is there because of the love of teaching.
Similarly, health care, security officers, taxation officers, business men and
women, class prefects, school prefects, elder brothers and sisters, fathers and
mothers all face the same crises. Not everybody is willing to face his or her
responsibilities. Most people are not willing to stand and face their worst
fears. For how long shall young people keep saying “that is how the system is”,
“there is absolutely nothing you can do”, “you cannot change the system” and so
on.
